5x5x5
Packing is a daunting task. Even when you think you don’t have a lot of stuff, you’re always wrong. Every weekend, we do another sweep of the house, picking out more things to sell or donate.
We have been slowly pairing down our items to just the bare essentials and wow, is it cathartic. The only things left in our closet are the things that will come with us to our new home or the work clothes we need to wear into the office each day.
There are some items that don’t meet the criteria to come with us or get rid of. It’s the yearbooks, wedding photos, childhood mementos or medals from our competitive swimming days. Things we definitely want to keep but won’t want or need immediately. So, we got a storage unit.
We signed up online for a 5’x5’ unit, anticipating we could use the height to our advantage. When we arrive at our new tiny space, we come to find out it’s actually a 5’x5’ cube, only 5 feet tall and raised to chest height. Challenge accepted. We will make this work.
