Home is where the boat is
It was an amazing overnight passage from St. Augustine to Port Salerno. We sailed the first day, had to motor at night and then motor sailed the second day. It was the kind of passage that makes you want to just keep going.
With every trip, we build confidence. This overnight was a very different experience from the last one. The weather and seas cooperated, everyone got at least some sleep, and we had a much better setup for the dogs to be safely outside with us.
It seemed like everyone took advantage of the weather window to head south and we had a small contingent of sailboats around us for much of the trip. Most of the boats stopped in Ft. Pierce and a couple continued along to West Palm Beach.
We are “home” for a week or two. It’s a funny feeling being back now that home really is the boat. So much of the surroundings are same but it feels completely different being back.
For eight months, we were stuck in Manatee Pocket on the hard for the lightning refit. It brings up a lot of feelings to come back but we’re in a completely different figurative place now.
Regardless, we are very much looking forward to seeing family and friends after six months away. If you’re in town and would like to get together, please reach out! We hope to catch up with as many people as possible.
